After that we headed to a hexagonal room, or better stay a fancy music studio, with six drum stations and the fun begun. I've heard that alot about the earlier Rock Band controllers, and I can tell just by the look of the pads that the Guitar Hero controller is cushier and not that terrible hard plastic surface.

They're great fun, but it sounds like you're looking for a way to get around the cost of serious drum MIDI controllers, and I don't think you're going to do that without giving up quite a bit. It would be great if more people could see this as a cheaper alternative, and maybe that would lead to some more competitive pricing for the real-deal Roland or Alesis kits. Not many topics on this as if most people who had this problem have given up, but even with the MIDI cable I still have this problem where only 2/3s of the time they will work when hit together in some songs, yet other songs its flawless, and in the rock band studio its flawless. Perhaps its our significant lack of skill, but as a result of the low-clearance cymbals, we too often found ourselves hitting the bottom of the cymbal on the way back up from a strike with our stick. Lacking musical education and never having held drumsticks in my hands before I was a bit concerned.

The bass pedal is re-enforced with a metal plate on it and is much more durable than the original drum set's bass pedal, although it can still crack if you use it the wrong way. If 5-lane O G notes were to be played at the same time in 4-lane Drums, they would be played on blue and green pads instead. I have not played either so I have no idea if they perform differently despite looking almost identical. The cymbals however require some adjustment - in GHWT they work reasonably well, you can hit them at an angle and the hits register 99% of the time.

Bass drum notes appear the same as open notes on Bass in Guitar Hero World Tour-styled games ( World Tour, Metallica, Smash Hits, and Van Halen) as purple bars.

I had an old set of Wii Guitar Hero drums hanging around and remembered that the have a MIDI OUT port on them.
