Description

This is the second book in the Four Streets trilogy by Nadine Dorries and although you don't necessarily need to have read the first book in this series, as this can be read as a stand alone and it does cover what happens in the first book, I think it makes it more enjoyable if you have read all of the books. I too, grew up in this era (and in a catholic community), but we were not so naive or vulnerable as this community is portrayed. I find it hard to imagine how the families could have so many children whilst so poor, but then I am not Catholic. She has been MP for Mid Bedfordshire since 2005, and is presently serving as Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport.

One final query - Simon change brands for obvious reasons - almost as an aside -- but then apparently changed back again? I thoroughly enjoyed the first book and read it in a couple of days and I became totally absorbed by the story and the characters. She trained as a nurse, then followed with a successful career in which she established and then sold her own business. This is another gripping read which I just could not put down (like the other books in the trilogy, I read each one in a day they were that good) and I was so desperate to find out what would happen I stayed up way past my bedtime. Her mother, Maura, and best friend Nellie's grandmother decide the girls must be spirited away to Ireland to await the birth of the baby. I promise if you get caught up in these peoples lives it will be just like your setting at the table gossiping with the rest of the neighborhood ladies about the comings and goings cause none of them miss a trick.

The characters are engaging, the streets scenes cinematic and the theme of the novel powerful' The Times.

Captivating, phenomenal and touching' ― 23 Review Street --This text refers to an alternate kindle_edition edition.

My books are based on the streets of Liverpool, or in the Liverpool hospitals where I trained as a nurse, or at one of my favourite places in the world, the west coast of Ireland. Another epic tale of what can only be described as a series of unfortunate events to a group of innocent (mostly) and vulnerable people. The inevitable time spent by Kitty at the convent was brilliantly conveyed - but I still want to know what happened to the escapee. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. This secret is so dangerous that her mother, Maura, and the redoubtable Kathleen, her best friend Nellie’s grandmother, decide the girls must be spirited away quietly to Ireland to await the birth of the baby. My only concern was that at times I found it hard to believe this was the early sixties as it seemed to be more 50's.

But there's more than one reference to blue and white Panda police cars which did not appear on the streets until the mid 1960's. In the Four Streets in Liverpool, a dreadful murder has been committed, and 14-year-old Kitty Doherty is pregnant with the dead man's child. Not my usual genre but downloaded the free sample of "Hide Her Name" and then I just had to read the rest. I do not often purchase books as there are so many good "freebies", but this one was worth it and part 3 is a must have.
