Mike has found purpose in his pain and his book offers not only a cautionary tale but also an inspiring story of resilience. He describes his thinking and his feelings as he went through tremendous ups and downs (and then mostly downs) as a high level executive in the organization. Everything you think you know about Scientology is probably true…and it’s only a drop in the bucket.

There's a reason We Are Legion was named Audible's Best Science Fiction Book of 2016: Its irresistibly irreverent wit! C. on perhaps 2 or 3 occasions over that two-year span as a board member of Church of Scientology International (CSI).One Thursday lunchtime the Earth gets unexpectedly demolished to make way for a new hyperspace bypass. Yet, in 2009 when I first told Tom Devocht that I had reached out to Rinder, Tom advised me to stay away from Rinder. Sir Michael Caine knows a thing or two about gangs: whether that’s joining one as a kid, or playing them in movies for over 50 years. In this section, Rinder attempts to fill a gigantic hole in the official anti-Scientology narrative. Heber Jentzsch was the primary CSI participant, but could not attend on a couple occasions and so Rinder subbed from the bench.

Mike Rinder opens up a book full of stories that are so mindblowing that some of them are even very hard to believe. I commend the author for being vulnerable and not giving excuses for his actions but explaining how someone could fall for the lies of the organization especially when you’re pulled in at a young age. He helped negotiate Scientology’s pivotal tax exemption from the IRS and engaged with the organization’s prominent celebrity members, including Tom Cruise, Lisa Marie Presley, and John Travolta. You might want to read this one twice or more , Mike was very high up in Scientology and whatever he broke free with great courage and resolution .I am fascinated with cults so reading this book by Mike Rinders' experience with Scientology and escape kept me interested. Mini-me, after watching me truthfully testify to that life on several occasions - for two years incidentally, he couldn't even get the time span correct - he suddenly after fifteen years adopts it as his life. Former Scientologist, Jon Atack, found the registrations with Hubbard's signatures on for 'The Church Of American Science'; the 'Church of Scientology'; and the 'Church of Human Engineering'. This covers every aspect of Scientology and I highly recommend for anyone who is interested in the history and the tactics used by the church to silence anyone who dares question anything. It was a tactic famously used by Stalin - keep your subordinates divided, fearful, confused, and off-balance.

He laments that he has no clue - again feigning ignorance - as to why "almost overnight" a) Marty Rathbun eschewed the Anti-Scientology Cult (ASC, a victim narcissist cult if there ever were one, see e. But for entertainment purposes, also because I really can't understand why someone would ever want to be in this cult and all the extreme events, I'm giving this 4 stars. It is a brilliant book that details the horrors of Scientology - the lies, evasions and frankly criminal conduct that they will employ to silence critics and prevent people leaving. Regardless of credulity or value of beliefs, practices and policies, no one who has been there can refute that Sea Organization members by and large are caring, selfless and duty-motivated.From 1982 to 2007 Rinder served on the board of directors of CSI and also held the post of executive director of its Office of Special Affairs, overseeing the corporate, legal and public relations matters of Scientology at the international level. It was the humiliation of being sent to do the lowest grunt duties in front of all the Freewinds crew.
